Montreal, 25th of August,

Dear friends, colleagues and supporters of Chantiers Jeunesse,

It is with deep sadness that we announce the decision taken at our last Board meeting in July: the resolution to discontinue our program, “Social impact accelerators program” (SIAP), on August 25. As of this date, all our programs currently run by Chantiers jeunesse will be closed. Our hard-working employees will also finish their work on that same date.

This heartbreaking decision was announced to Canada Service Corps, our funder, following the realization that it would be impossible to meet the financial requirements for the completion of the current program. The arrival of the pandemic led to a reorientation of our course, and at the same time, the requirements of Canada Service Corps evolved. Nevertheless, our latest program enabled over 50 young people to implement their entrepreneurial projects, generating positive impacts in their respective communities.

Although Chantiers jeunesse will go on hiatus in September, the Board of Directors will continue its relentless search for new funding opportunities. With this in mind, we will be launching a new fundraising strategy in September, supported by a new Board of Directors. Although our activities mark the end of our programs, our mission and objectives remain firmly anchored in our hearts.

As administrators, directors and employees of Chantiers jeunesse, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support throughout our 40-plus years of existence. We sincerely thank you for the unforgettable moments as employees, volunteers, partners and administrators, as well as for all the bonds created at Chantiers jeunesse that still endure today. We thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult period.

We encourage you to share in the comments your memories of Chantiers jeunesse, moments that have inspired thousands of people around the world and had a positive impact on many communities.

With warmest regards,

Jonathan Giguère, Chairman of the Board
