The team at Rincon de Guayabitos needs help protecting four endangered species of sea turtles. This project will give you the chance to learn about sea turtles while working alongside a team of committed biologists.
The volunteers will be working at night from 20:00 to 08:00, four days per week with an average of thirty hours. Each group will be taking turns, working one night and taking the next night off for recovery. The weekends are also spared for resting.
Finding adult turtles and collect their eggs | Moving the eggs to a protected place called Vivero | Releasing baby turtles into the sea. | Patrolling the beaches at night. | Making some reconstruction in the most important turtle camps of the region.
Vive México is an international cooperation organization that works for the development of youth. Vive México is a partner of more than 400 organizations in 85 countries around the world and collaborates with institutions in Mexico, Canada, Latin America and Europe.
Rincon de Guayabitos, also known as Guayabitos, is a beach town located in the astonishing Sierra Madre Occidental, in the state of Nayarit and bathed by the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the cities of Tepic, Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
The volunteers will be hosted in a hotel in a shared room with all facilities at their disposal namely, private bathroom, hot water, swimming pool, WIFI, and air conditioning.
Fluency in English or Spanish is required.
Important: in order to realize it we have to charge a participation fee of 310 Euros. The fee includes food, hosting, necessary materials and local transportation for work activities. It should be paid in cash in Mexican pesos on the first day of the project. The volunteers will be informed about the fee in pesos one week before the start of the project.
