    (Hereinafter each designated a "Party" and collectively as the "Parties")

    Dear Volunteer,
    Chantiers jeunesse is pleased to confirm that your application has been selected for a project abroad. We ask you to read the clauses of this Agreement between the Volunteer and Chantiers jeunesse on the following pages. If you accept these clauses, please return a signed copy of the Agreement with your financial contribution payable to Chantiers jeunesse. This Agreement will be binding on the Parties only upon the receipt by Chantiers jeunesse of the signed Agreement and your payment of the financial contribution payable to Chantiers jeunesse. We want your Volunteer camp to be an enriching experience.

    WHEREAS the Volunteer wishes to participate in a Volunteer camp abroad, including preparatory activities and a subsequent debriefing activity of experience-sharing (hereinafter the "Volunteer camp");

    WHEREASChantiers jeunesse has selected the Volunteer to participate in a Volunteer camp abroad;

    Identification of the Volunteer camp camp abroad

    The Volunteer will participate in the next Volunteer camp(s)

  • write the name of the volunteer camp.
  • The Volunteer camp (s) selection by the Volunteer will be completed online.

    Chantiers jeunesse does not guarantee the Volunteer’s Volunteer campselection to the Volunteer. According to the terms of clause 2, if the Volunteer’s selection cannot be confirmed by both Chantiers jeunesse and an international organization (hereinafter the "Partner"), Chantiers jeunesse commits to offer Volunteer camp (s) alternatives to the Volunteer.

    Financial contribution

    Financial contribution payable to Chantiers jeunesse: four hundred and fifty ($ 450), payable upon signing of the Agreement.

    An additional financial contribution may be required by certain Partners. The amount (if applicable) will be known by the Volunteer when selecting the Volunteer camp (s) online.

    In addition to the clauses of the Agreement hereinafter, Chantiers jeunesse is committed to:

    • • Organize a week-end training meeting called “” “Leadership in your own hands “ as well as a debriefing experience-sharing activity called “Volunteers meetup”;
    • • Provide support throughout the Volunteer camp preparation ;
    • • Assign a place for the Volunteer in a Volunteer camp at one of Chantiers jeunesse’s organizational partners, in compliance with the quality criteria charter of our partner, the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations
    • • CNESST coverage during volunteer work hours ;
    • • An emergency phone number that can be reached at any time during theVolunteer camp
    • • A pre-departure Infosheet containing information essential to the preparation of the trip
    • • Provide a participant guide.

    In addition to the following clauses of the Agreement, the Volunteer agrees to:

    • • Pay the required financial contribution ;
    • • Pay the cost of transportation to the location of the Volunteer camp ;
    • • Provide proof of purchase of flight tickets and of valid medical and hospital travel insurance;
    • • Participate actively in the Volunteer camp project and be involved in the group life during the Volunteer camp ;
    • • Demonstrate an attitude exempt of harassment, discrimination and violence in compliance with Chantiers jeunesse’s Harassment, Discrimination, and Violence at Work Policy, available for consultation on the Volunteer “Espace membre” (Member Profile) ;
    • • Not to consume alcohol excessively and not to consume drugs at any time during the Volunteer camp and during any activity, training, or meeting pre and post Volunteer camp organized by Chantiers jeunesse ;
    • • Respect the laws and customs in effect on the territory of the Province of Quebec and on the territory where the Volunteer camp takes place ;

    Pay for transportation and accommodation costs (if required) for training events.

  • THEREFORE, the Parties mutually agree as follows:

    Terms and Conditions of the Agreement

    1. Description of the Volunteer camp


    a) Chantiers jeunesse commits to placing the Volunteer on a Volunteer camp (the "Volunteer camp ”) organized by a partner so that the Volunteer and the group of which it will be part come concretely to help a community.

    b) The Volunteer, selected by Chantiers jeunesse, agrees to participate voluntarily in the Volunteer camp, including all prior Volunteer camppreparation activities and feedback activity after the Volunteer camp..

    c) The description of the Volunteer camp can be found in the "Member Area" section of our website (hereinafter "Member Area"), which allowed the Volunteer to make his Volunteer camp (s) selection, and can be consulted using the following link: https://www.cj.qc.ca/space-member

    2. Confirmation of the Volunteer camp

    Within 3 business days following the receipt of this signed Agreement and the financial contribution payable to Chantiers jeunesse, Chantiers jeunesse will submit an application for the Volunteer camp selected by the Volunteer to the Partner. The final decision as to whether or not to accept the Volunteer on the selected Volunteer camp lies with the Partner. If the Volunteer’s selected Volunteer camp is rejected by the Partner, Chantiers jeunesse will offer alternative Volunteer camp options to the Volunteer. The Volunteer will await the confirmation of the Partner of his or her acceptance on the Volunteer camp before purchasing any flight or train tickets.

    3. Terms of the Agreement

    This Agreement takes effect from the date of signing hereof and ends following the post-Volunteer camp debriefing experience-sharing activity.

    4. Financial Clauses

    a) Participation Fees. The Volunteer must pay in cash, by check, or online through the member area, the financial contribution indicated on the first page of this Agreement, plus any additional contribution required by the Partner, the amount of which is indicated in the description of the Volunteer camp located in the member area https://www.cj.qc.ca/space-member (hereinafter together, the "Participation Fees"). Any other method of payment must first be approved by Chantiers jeunesse. The Participation Fees cover the pre-departure training, all administrative expenses as well as CNESST coverage, in accordance with clause 8 of this Agreement.

    b) Payment Date. The payment of the financial contribution payable to Chantiers jeunesse must be made on the date that this Agreement is signed by the Volunteer. The payment of any and all additional financial contributions required by the Partner must be made by the Volunteer to the Partner in accordance with the Partner’s terms and conditions (if applicable).

    c) Withdrawal of the Volunteer. In the event of withdrawal of the Volunteer from the Volunteer camp (s), the Participation Fees paid to Chantiers jeunesse are non-refundable. The postponement of the Participation Fees for participation in another Chantiers jeunesse Volunteer camp the following year is possible, provided that the Volunteer makes such a request to Chantiers jeunesse at least thirty (30) days prior to the start of the Volunteer camp from which the Volunteer wishes to withdraw. If applicable, a postponement agreement must be completed and signed by both the designated Chantiers jeunesse project officer and the Volunteer.

    Notwithstanding the above clause, the postponement will be valid only for participation in a project that ends no later than December 31st of the calendar year following the year that the Participation Fees were paid.

    d) Other Expenses. Any other charges or expenses not described in this Agreement will be entirely and exclusively payable by the Volunteer, including, but not limited to, transportation costs to the location of all preliminary pre-Volunteer camp mandatory activities, transportation costs to the Volunteer camp destination, transportation costs to the location of the subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity, accommodation during the preliminary pre-Volunteer camp mandatory activities and during the subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity, all personal expenses for the Volunteer during the preliminary pre-Volunteer camp mandatory activities or the subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity, and any insurance not mentioned in this Agreement, including, but not limited to, travel and health insurance.

    5. Weekly Volunteer Hours during the Volunteer camp (s)

    The Volunteer commits to volunteer, that is work without pay, for approximately thirty (30) hours per week throughout the duration of theVolunteer camp .

    6. Accommodation during the Volunteer camp

    a) The Volunteer will be housed in a collective accommodation provided by the Partner during the Volunteer camp (hereinafter the "Accommodation").

    b) At the Volunteer camp location, the Partner will assign a local adult guide to the group of Volunteers. A basic level of the English and/or French languages will be required from both the local guide and the group of volunteers in order to communicate adequately.

    7. Obligations of the Volunteer

    a) Involvement. The Volunteer commits himself or herself to get actively involved in all aspects of theVolunteer camp , be it volunteering, group and community life or different activities, and this, throughout the entire duration of the Volunteer camp project. The Volunteer also commits to respect all rules and regulations set forth by the Partner during theVolunteer camp .

    b) Preparation and Evaluation Meetings. Unless a major cause prevents it, it is mandatory for the Volunteer to actively take part of all training sessions before and after theVolunteer camp . These training sessions include preliminary pre-Volunteer camp meetings and the subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity, as they constitute an integral part of theVolunteer camp .

    c) Medical and Hospital Insurance. The Volunteer must unequivocally obtain a medical-hospital insurance for the duration of theVolunteer , including the portion of the Volunteer camp taking place outside Canada, and covering in particular and without limitation the expenses of hospitalization, care of emergency, medication and repatriation to Canada, if applicable. .

    d) Passport and Visa. It is the responsibility of the Volunteer to have a valid passport as well as all the necessary immigration and visa authorizations in order to both visit and work as a Volunteer in theVolunteer camp . The Volunteer is responsible for planning for the time required to obtain his or her travel documents, by consulting the websites of the relevant embassies in order to confirm the visa application processing time (if applicable). Chantiers jeunesse will not be responsible in any way if for any reason the Volunteer fails to obtain travel documents within the required time.

    e) Evaluation Report. The Volunteer commits to submit to Chantiers jeunesse a written report evaluating his or her experience on the Volunteer camp submitted no later than sixty (60) days after the completion of theVolunteer camp , in the format determined by Chantiers jeunesse.

    f) Penalty. Failure by the Volunteer to comply with these obligations may result in the immediate termination of this Agreement by Chantiers jeunesse, with no obligation for Chantiers jeunesse to provide any additional services under this Agreement.

    8. CNESST Insurance

    Chantiers jeunesse is committed to ensuring that the Volunteer is protected by the Act Respecting Industrial Accidents and Occupational Diseases, in accordance with the contractual agreements in place between Chantiers jeunesse and the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail of Québec (CNESST).

    9. Use of Multimedia Material

    The Volunteer hereby authorizes Chantiers jeunesse to use and disseminate on the Chantiers jeunesse website and social media or on any other platform considered appropriate by Chantiers jeunesse, for promotional and advertising purposes the multimedia material (photos, videos, etc.) and testimonials that the Volunteer will send to Chantiers jeunesse during theVolunteer camp .

    10. Inappropriate Behaviour by the Volunteer

    a) Chantiers jeunesse reserves the right at any chosen time to remove from the program a Volunteer who, following a preliminary pre-Volunteer camp meeting, following a debriefing activity, during the Volunteer camp, or during any other interaction with Chantiers jeunesse, would have exhibited, as determined by Chantiers jeunesse in its sole discretion, inappropriate behaviour, in particular behaviour that violates the Chantiers jeunesse Harassment, Discrimination, and Violence at Work Policy, rendering the Volunteer incompatible with the program and this, without any obligation on Chantiers jeunesse to provide any additional services under this Agreement. As a result, and in particular and without limitation, Chantiers jeunesse will not be obliged to pay for any transportation costs for the return of the Volunteer due to such a breach.

    b) Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, any excessive or non-authorized consumption of alcohol as well as any use of any drug, whatsoever, including, without limitation, any use of cannabis, during the Volunteer camp shall be considered inappropriate behaviour from the Volunteer and will automatically lead to the Volunteer’s exclusion from theVolunteer camp , without any obligation for Chantiers jeunesse to provide any additional services under this Agreement. As a result, and in particular and without limitation, Chantiers jeunesse will not be obliged to pay for any transportation costs for the return of the Volunteer due to such a breach.

    c) Chantiers jeunesse reserves the right at any chosen time to remove from the program a Volunteer who doesn’t comply with and doesn’t respect the rules and regulations in effect on the territory of the Province of Québec and/or on the territory where the Volunteer camp is located, rendering the Volunteer incompatible with the program, and this, without any obligation on Chantiers jeunesse to provide any additional services under this Agreement. As a result, and in particular and without limitation, Chantiers jeunesse will not be obliged to pay for any transportation costs for the return of the Volunteer due to such a breach.

    11. Amendment or Cancellation of the Volunteer camp by Chantiers jeunesse

    Chantiers jeunesse reserves the right to modify at any time the dates of theVolunteer camp , for example in the event of amendment to the Volunteer camp commencement and end dates set forth by the Partner. Chantiers jeunesse also reserves the right, acting reasonably, to amend or cancel a Volunteer camp in progress, upon providing fifteen (15) days written notice to the Volunteer, without incurring any liability whatsoever in respect to the Volunteer. In this instance, Chantiers jeunesse will offer alternatives to the Volunteer, in particular by trying to place the Volunteer on anotherVolunteer camp , or by deferring the Participation Fees paid by the Volunteer towards participation in a Volunteer camp taking place in following calendar year.

    12. Statement of the Volunteer

    The Volunteer declares to have read and accepted the terms and conditions related to the selected Volunteer camps, the description of which is available online on his or her member area, in accordance with clause 2, and in particular, the accommodation clauses, and, where applicable, any additional contributions required by the Partner.

    13. Transportation

    Chantiers jeunesse is not responsible for the transportation of the Volunteer to the Volunteer camp or to the preliminary pre-Volunteer camp activities and subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity, which are entirely the responsibility of the Volunteer. The obligations and responsibilities of Chantiers jeunesse towards the Volunteer in relation to the Volunteer camp and the preliminary pre-Volunteer camp activities and subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity will commence when the Volunteer arrives at the Volunteer camp location or at the location where the preliminary pre-Volunteer camp activities or subsequent debriefing experience-sharing activity are taking place.

    14. Force Majeure

    Chantiers jeunesse cannot be held liable towards the Volunteer for any defect or delay in execution caused by circumstances beyond its control, including, but not limited to, natural disasters, war, insurrection, fire, strike, flood, earthquake, power failure, embargo, delay in transportation, default of the Partner, inability to obtain any financing, permit or other regulatory authorization, or inability to obtain the materials or resources necessary to carry out the Volunteer camp

    15. Several Volunteer camps

    If the Volunteer chooses or participates in several Workcamps during the same calendar year, the terms and conditions of this Agreement apply in the same way to each Volunteer camp taking into account the relevant and necessary amendments, if applicable.

    16. Applicable Laws

    This Agreement and all actions and proceedings under this Agreement shall be construed and governed, except as otherwise provided by the law of any other forum, by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to the jurisdiction in which a special action or proceeding may be brought.

    IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the persons authorized to represent the Parties have signed on the date indicated on the second page of this Agreement.
