COVID-19 and Chantiers jeunesse
According to predictions of the security measures put in place to contain the spread of the epidemic, everything leads us to believe that the summer 2020 season of our volunteer projects in Canada and abroad will take place. We would like to highlight that certain communities will have an even greater need for the help of volunteers for their activities. That said, the situation will be periodically evaluated in accordance with government recommendations.
Yes, registration is still open to everyone. We are evaluating the situation on a daily basis. An outreach officer will contact you as quickly as possible to keep you updated on all measures taken. Click here to see our summer programs and register!
For our social entrepreneurship projects and our ambassador program, with activities taking place mostly at home and follow-up being done by video conference these activities will be maintained with minimal impact. More info
We’re actively following all updates from the government of Canada and for the moment we believe that all of our volunteer projects for this summer will take place, so they’re still available.
Chantiers jeunesse guarantees the reimbursement of participation fees :

- in the case that governmental restrictive measures are prolonged

Intercultural Volunteer Projects in Canada
Yes, as long as the spots for the projects aren’t all filled. We want to give everyone a chance to do at least one project.
The project choices are made after the registration process, generally two months before the start of the season. By order of preference, you’ll indicate the top three projects that you would like to participate in. An outreach officer will go through everyone’s preferences and assign projects accordingly. You’ll receive an answer shortly thereafter.
Of course! Our facilitation team is bilingual and there will be youth from various regions of Canada and from other countries on your project. In fact, our volunteer projects are an excellent opportunity to share your language and learn more about another one.
You can participate in one project per year and be on the reserve list to fill a spot for another project. There is no limit to the number of projects you can participate in during your life.
Yes, for sure. Each volunteer must fill out their own registration form, but we can’t guarantee that you’ll be assigned the same project. However, you can participate together at the pre-departure orientation weekend as well as the celebratory get-together weekend after the summer season.

Unfortunately, no. The grant is dedicated to the project and not to the volunteers who are in charge of the project.
The grants are given to the volunteers who start off a project. If certain volunteers are members of an organization and they wish to spearhead a service or organize an event, they can be supported (or “coached”) by the organization, but the event can’t be run by the organization.
